Carrera – an Austrian brand inspired by the automotive industry
The Carrera brand name comes from the Mexican race called Carrera Panamericana. It was founded in 1956 by Austrian Wilhelm Anger. After only eight years of operation, Carrera has created and patented an innovative (and anti-allergic) material called Optyl. It is over 20% lighter than other thermoplastic materials used in the production of glasses. Optyl allows you to perfectly fit the glasses to the shape of your face. In later years, the Carrera brand expanded its activities to include ski helmets and goggles. A breakthrough and revolutionary moment for the brand was the cooperation with Alexander Porsche and the creation of the Carrera Porsche Design Collection in 1979.
